Chris was a good mouse
He never harmed anyone
He never scared an elephant
And never scared a mother
He avoided cats
And keep to himself
But the little mouse has a problem
He loves cheese to much
And he has gotten caught in a trap or Two
Or three or four
He has gotten caught to many times
And what does he see
A nice piece of cheese
Seems to be safe
But it could be another trap
It could be an illusion
It could be nothing at all
So does he stick his head out
Does it take the risk
For the metal bar could snap
And break is neck
Should he leap
Just to be slammed down
With a broken rib cage
Or maybe worse
Should he risk it
For if he fails
The just pick up his dead body
And throw it away with the other mice
Chris is a nice mouse
Will they see what he has to offer
Or will they shut him out
Will the get a cat
To chase him away
Or will they just ignore him
Like everyone else
Let him craw in the shadows
And pretend they didn’t see him
Chris is a mouse
Gentle, kind, soft, and friendly
But will they see him for more
Then just a mouse
I don’t think so
Chris is a depressed mouse
Lonely, and unloved
For Chris has been caught
In far to many traps
And his heart can no longer take the pain
His heart no longer beats
So don’t trap Chris
